Presidential Campaign Bullshit - Obama’s Image

By User Imageadmin on Jun. 19, 2008.

Disclaimer:  I’m not a Muslim and I’m not female

That done, this bullshit from Obama really pisses me off.  As reported in a Politico.com article, Muslims Barred From Picture At Political Event, Obama’s handlers prevented two Muslim women from sitting behind him during a rally in Detroit.  They were prevented from sitting behind him because of the “political climate.”  And that is acceptable?

Here is my favorite quote from the article:

The two women’s friends who witnessed the incidents were disappointed, too. Aref’s friend Miller said he was “shocked” by the contrast between Obama’s message and their experience.

Contrast between words and actions is the definition of bullshit.  I am just at awe that this can happen at such a grand scale and people let it go.  It is just disgusting!

Now, as is usually the case with politicians, we have damage control.  This usually takes the form of an action (and usually a relatively small but public one) that correlates more with the words.  Another quote from the article:

An Obama aide also noted that the campaign has no policy against the candidate’s appearing with women in headscarves: The next morning at Wayne State University, Obama posed for a picture with a student wearing a hijab.

Here is the picture:

Obama Poses

But that leads us to the next question:  What is a pose?

Per the Wiktionary, pose is a verb meaning to set in place or arrange, which is another form of the word, BULLSHIT!  The candidates use bullshit to hide or cover up bullshit.  The cycle goes on!

In my quest to find bullshit, I’ve come across an excellent game dedicated to office bullshit called Bullshit Bingo. This game promises to keep you engaged during the many bullshit meetings you’re made to endure. The game can be played through a standard browser or printed. Enjoy!

The $25,000 G-String

By User Imageadmin on Jun. 18, 2008.

The Smoking Gun has reported that a lawsuit was filed against Victoria Secret by 52 year old Macrinda Patterson seeking damages in excess of $25,000.  Apparently she was hit in the eye when putting the g-string on.  You can read the full story here.

I call this bullshit!  A “decorative piece of metal” hit her in the eye?  Was she using it as a sling shot?  Or was she getting dressed and boing?  I’d need to see a demonstration of this before I could give her a dime.

Here is my favorite quote from her attorney Jason Buccat: The injury that caused her to miss a few days of work will be “affecting her the rest of her life.”  Does she now have a g-string phobia?  Will she have nightmares?  Or the worst of all, she’ll have to start wearing granny panties and deal with “PANTY LINES!”

I’m not really sure who deserves the Bullshit Award nomination for this more, her or her attorney.  Hell, I’m not really sure what category this goes under.  But I’d say they’d be a shoe in for at least an honorable mention.  I hope there are follow up stories on this.  Ms Patterson and Mr. Buccat deserve full recognition for the bullshit they’ve launched (in court records no less!).

Lord help us!

Presidential Elections = Bullshit?

By User Imageadmin on Jun. 17, 2008.

Is it just me, or do presidential elections bring out the best bullshit in America?  I listen to the candidates speak and can’t help but wonder how their messages can change so drastically over such a short period of time without someone calling “Bullshit!”  Then the analysts follow with statements that the candidates are moving to the middle in order to appeal to more people.  That’s complete bullshit!

Are you going to vote based on the reality or the bullshit?  Do you know which is which?

Without a doubt, the candidates are going to say what they need to say to get elected.  Pay attention people!  Call the candidates on their bullshit and don’t let them mislead the American public.  They are just dumb enough to fall for the bullshit.

The Idea Begins Taking Form

By User Imageadmin on Jun. 12, 2008.

Welcome to the official Bullshit Awards blog.  We are about to undertake the grand experiment.  Will acknowledging the best bullshitters make a difference?  Will it reduce the amount of bullshit we have to deal with?  My hypothesis is that it won’t, but it sure will be fun calling people out.

We plan to go live with the alpha testing in just a few weeks.  The beta testing will begin on August 1st (or earlier if the alpha goes well).  If you’re reading this post before August 1st, we ask your patience as we beat the bugs out of the system.

So, lets have some fun!
