Remote Kill Switch On I-Phone Is Bullshit!
By
admin on Aug. 18, 2008.

Even though you bought that new iPhone, the life in your pocket appliance isn’t all yours after all. Apple has its finger on the button that could wipe it out in a blink. Apparently Apple put a secret URL in the operating system that will allow them to remove applications.
Yes, we can see where this would be useful. If they find that an application is doing something it shouldn’t, they can help all of their users by removing the application from everyone’s iphone. But didn’t we buy these applications from the Apple application store to begin with? What about the testing? Hmmm?
The main point here: We bought the phone. Its ours! You’re already telling us who we have to use for a phone service. And now you’re telling us what applications we can have? How about just testing the applications before you offer them to the public? I call bullshit!

A 60 Year Cover Up Of Aliens? Bullshit!
By
admin on Jul. 29, 2008.
I first heard about this through Fox News a couple of days ago. As I started looking into it, I came across this podcast interview with Dr. Edgar Mitchell (note: the interview lasts an hour). He was an astronaught who, along with Buzz Aldren recorded the longest moon walk (11 hours).

Much of the interview focused on his findings and beliefs that were developed while on the moon mission and his subsequent career. He has a strong belief in spirituality and our place in universe.
The interview then moved on to UFOs. He claims, with his family being in ranching, he knew many people directly involved in the Roswell incident. He said that he was briefed by several in the military and intelligence community who wanted to get this off their conscience before they died.
Per Dr. Mitchell, since the Kennedy administration, any presidential inquiries, including one by President Clinton, were stifled. As a result, there has been a sixty year cover up of the true events at Roswell. If Dr. Mitchell is correct, this Weekly World News picture and article are bullshit! Bill Clinton did not meet an alien in the early 1990’s.
Dr. Mitchell’s inquiries have led him to believe that aliens were on Earth for quite some time, but are no longer here. Most of the current sitings are false.
While a man’s past accomplishments are often a benchmark for their trustworthiness, it cannot be the only measure. Clearly, well respected individuals can be as full of bullshit as anyone. It is a shame that all of the people that Dr. Mitchell reportedly spoke to about the Roswell events are now dead. We may never know if he is bullshitting us or not.

Bullshit On Late Night TV?
By
admin on Jul. 27, 2008.
I woke up at 2:30am the other night and turned on the television. I started flipping channels, looking for an infomercial I haven’t seen. Since I fancy myself as an Internet marketer, there are some great lessons to learn from these late night staples.
As I clicked through the normal fodder of real estate riches, eBay millions, and weight loss miracles, I was floored when I landed on the following:

Yes, that is what you think it is. In the QVC/HSN style, a program dedicated to selling dildos and vibrators. Two women discussed how each tool would feel and provided provided special usage tips (i.e., apparently one of the benefits of a glass dildo is that you can put it in the freezer for a special sensation).
As a marketer, I found it interesting that they had different call in numbers for men and women. I can guess it would be a different experience for a man ordering than a woman. Therefore it would take a different skillset for the operator. Especially for those ordering this:

Had I gone back to bed, I’m pretty sure I’d have had nightmares!
They closed out the sesson with an extensive discussion on the features and benefits of their double dong:

This was on Oh! The Oxygen Network. I guess it was the ladies answer to Girls Gone Wild commercials that run in the same time slot on Spike and the Comedy Channel. Personally, I’d prefer that neither of these be on. Am I a prude for thinking that it is out of line for this stuff to be on standard cable TV?
Tell me what you think?

More Political Hate Debate Bullshit!
By
admin on Jul. 14, 2008.
I strongly questioned whether I would post this but figured that bullshit takes all shapes, sizes, and smells. My apologies to Senator Obama and his wife for even reprinting the picture.
Let that image sink in for a while…
The New Yorker Magazine says it is using this image as a lead in for an article about hate and politics. To that end, they hit it on the head. Commissioning and publishing this picture was hateful.
So, lets cut through the bullshit!
They are using this cover to sell more magazines. They could have used a picture/drawing of Senator Obama with his family, showing a positive light on a family man. The selling point would be the title and the article itself (novel concept, eh?). But that wouldn’t sell as many magazines.
Unfortunately, I’m afraid the New Yorker management and editorial staff actually believe their message will be heard. Yes, the worst is true. They believe their own bullshit!

Why and how they devised this stat is anyone’s guess. All we can say is that it probably just another made up stat, yes, a load of bullshit.
On that thought, we’ll leave you with this:

Will We Carry The Baton Carlin Handed Us?
By
admin on Jun. 24, 2008.
It was with great sadness that I read today about the passing of comedian George Carlin. He was a hero of mine. Not in the normal sense that one would call someone a hero. No, George Carlin was a hero because he took the risk of being what few would be, an unashamed human being. He called bullshit regularly. And in such a unique way that we all listed, and we learned.
I’d encourage you to visit George Carlin’s Official Website. I’ve bought his boxed set and will enjoy it for years to come!
George Carlin started something and as a result has become an icon. That is more than many of us will ever accomplish in our lives. But, he has passed the baton. It is our time to run with it!
And in closing this tribute of sorts, I’ll leave you with my favorite George Carlin video:

Pact Or No, 18 Prego Teens Is Bullshit!
By
admin on Jun. 23, 2008.
A recent report out of Gloucester, MA (about 30 miles north of Boston) indicated that many girls had formed a pregnancy pact as a means of dealing with their loneliness. See the AP story - Reports: Teen girls made pact to get pregnant. Today, Gloucester mayor, Carolyn Kirk held a press conference to address the issue. The basic take away from that press conference:
1) She couldn’t verify whether there was a pact.
2) The budgetary issues in the school district may be part of the blame.
3) Parents share in the blame.
4) The School District is looking into the matter.
Here is the one she forgot:

The media is also partially to blame for this bullshit. Jamie Lyn Spears is serving as a role model. And her pregnancy is celebrated by the press, for example this Us Magazine article. Her family there for the delivery. And they drive home in a nice Range Rover.
That’s not real life! These poor girls are now dealing with a human life that they are not equipped to raise. Kids raising kids.
When we stop glamorizing the bad stuff, this kind of bullshit stops. As stands now, we’re headed down a very steep slope. Heaven help our kids.
